How to Convert CGPA to Percentage

CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) is an average of grade points, so it has to be converted with a formula. For the common 10-point scale used by CBSE, multiply your CGPA by 9.5.

Percentage = CGPA × 9.5

Example: a CGPA of 8.2 gives 8.2 × 9.5 = 77.9%. CBSE does not print a percentage on the marksheet, so this result is an indicative percentage.

For a scale other than 10 points, divide your CGPA by the maximum of the scale and multiply by 100. For example, 3.2 out of 4 is (3.2 ÷ 4) × 100 = 80%.

CGPA to Percentage Formulas

There is no single universal formula. Boards and universities publish their own, so always use the one your institution or the receiving institution asks for.
