How to Calculate a Percentage Decrease

Black Friday Scam? How I Check Real Discounts

I saw a laptop: "Was $1200, now $900, 25% off!" Is that real? I never know. Some stores fake the discount. So I learned to calculate percentage decrease myself to not get scammed.

The Problem With Sales

Stores show you "Save $300!" but not the real percent. $300 off $1200 is different than $300 off $600. You need to know the percentage decrease to know if it's a good deal.

Easy Calculation + Free Tool

Formula: (Original - New) / Original x 100
($1200 - $900) / $1200 x 100 = 25%. Yes, it's a real 25% off.

My free hack: I open the free discount calculator while I'm in the store. Enter old price and new price, it tells me the exact decrease %. No more fake sales. This free tool saved me $400 last Black Friday.
